High Trail Run Val d'Isere.

6 cols, 42km and 3500m ascent ! What an amazing day. At times it was so so hard and at times it was very enjoyable. I have a lot to learn. The first 3 hours I felt amazing and was flying by being the 3rd women. However I then started to feel sick and then even more sick, dizzy andI felt that I was going to pass out. I tried eating and drinking but it made me feel even worse. I was walking very very slowly up the col d'Iseran and thought that I was going to have to stop at the top because I felt so awful and I knew that I had a long way left to go. At top of the Iseran I had 2 glasses of coke and the difference I felt after that was incredible!! I had so much energy , no longer felt sick and was ready to run up Point Pers.

Looking back at the race I realised that I had not had enough to eat and drink and by the time I decided to try eating and drinking I had left it too late and my blood sugars where so low that it made me feel even worse. I cannot believe how different I felt after the coke. The aim now before the next race is to try and find a proper sports drink like coke - or maybe I will just stick to coke!
